Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) payments are scheduled to be issued Wednesday, Oct. 28, according to the federal government’s official benefits payment calendar.
The date has been trending in Google searches across Canada since Friday, as people look for what money is arriving before the end of the month.
The Service Canada calendar lists the CPP and OAS payments together on Oct. 28. A Veteran disability pension payment follows on Oct. 29. The page notes that payments are issued on the listed dates but may take a few days to arrive, and that mailed cheques can take longer than direct deposit.
Other benefits have already been paid this month. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) issued the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit on Oct. 5, the Advanced Canada workers benefit and the Ontario trillium benefit on Oct. 9, and the Canada child benefit (CCB) on Oct. 20. The Canada Disability Benefit was paid on Oct. 15, and the Newfoundland and Labrador disability benefit on Oct. 23, according to the federal calendars.
Searches for “Canada government benefits Oct. 28” appear to reflect that the month’s CPP and OAS payments are the last major federal benefit deposits before November. The CRA’s payment page lists no GST or HST credit payment in November or December.
November’s schedule begins with the Ontario trillium benefit on Nov. 10. The Canada Disability Benefit is next on Nov. 19, followed by the CCB on Nov. 20 and the Newfoundland and Labrador disability benefit on Nov. 25. CPP and OAS are paid again on Nov. 26, and the Veteran disability pension and the Alberta child and family benefit on Nov. 27, according to the government calendars.
The CRA lists the CCB on Dec. 11 and the Ontario trillium benefit on Dec. 10 for December.
Anyone who does not see a payment on the listed date should wait a few business days before contacting Service Canada or the CRA, the government pages advise. Direct deposit is generally the fastest way to receive benefits, the federal calendar notes.
