Health Canada is warning Canadians to stop using JKMAX heated blankets and heating pads sold on Amazon.ca because their internal heating wires can overheat, creating a risk of fire and burns.
The department issued the warning on Oct. 22, 2026. It said it contacted the foreign company that sold the products, which has not responded to requests for a voluntary recall. The products have been removed from sale on Amazon.ca.
The company reported that 74 units were sold in Canada between September 2024 and September 2026, Health Canada said. No incidents or injuries have been reported to the department so far.
The affected models are JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B and JKMAX-8490B. They come in blue, grey, brown or red polyester fabric, are machine washable and are sold in several sizes. Each has a detachable white remote that adjusts the heat.
The model number is printed on the back of the remote and on a white label on the packaging, which also shows the JKMAX name. The distributor is Jiande Pengshuai Trading Co., Ltd. of China, according to the Health Canada notice.
Health Canada told consumers to stop using the products immediately and dispose of them so they cannot be used again. Anyone who has had a health or safety incident can report it through the department’s Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
The department also noted that the same products were recalled in the United States by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission over fire and burn hazards.
