Former Tresor-Newrest workers, will speak out about the concerning news they heard that Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is now withdrawing their original offer of fast tracking their applications for Temporary Residents Permits as victims of labour trafficking. This agreement for a fast tracked process for the victims was reached with the Minister’s office and IRCC back in September just days before representatives of the same workers group spoke during a press conference organized by the the Immigrant Workers Centre on October 4, 2023. Close to one hundred workers will hold a short rally to express their frustration and disappointment at the news and hope to send a small delegation to request a meeting with the office of Minister Miller.
“We feel betrayed by this initial news coming from IRCC and hope we can clarify with the Minister’s office the best way forward to protect us as the victims,” says Octavio Zambrano a spokesperson for the group.
