Tiohtià:ke (Montreal, unceeded territory, where we recognize the Kanien’kehà:ka nation comme gardienne des terres et des eaux) , October 5th 2022 – Sex workers and their allies will gather on October 7 in front of the Montreal courthouse, at the call of the Sex Work Autonomous Committee (SWAC), to demand the immediate repeal of the Exploited Persons and Communities Protection Act. The rally will take place as the Canadian Alliance for the Reform of Sex Work Laws’ constitutional challenge concludes its hearings in the Ontario Superior Court. According to SWAC activists, the current law has a deleterious impact on their lives. Instead, they are calling for the complete and immediate decriminalization of sex work in the colonized territories known as Canada.
