A Newfoundlander is suiting up for the most storied franchise in the NHL.
Riley Mercer of Bay Roberts has been minding the net for the Drummondville Voltiguers, and has earned himself an invite to the Montreal Canadiens rookie camp this week.
Mercer, the younger brother of Devils forward Dawson Mercer, is attending the camp on a tryout basis, looking to earn himself a pro contract.
The goaltender had a 9-11-5 record in 29 appearances this season in the QMJHL, putting up a 3.62 goals-against average and a .866 save percentage.
