For the past week, it’s been hard to miss the 5,000-plus Indigenous athletes who descended on Halifax, Nova Scotia.
They’re taking part in the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG), running from July 15 to 23.
While many are here to win, they are also proud to share their culture.
CBC Kids News Contributor Isabelle MacNeil went looking for stories beyond the 16 sports taking place across the city and around the province.
She met some of the athletes, vendors and elders to find out about everything from pre-game rituals to smudging.
