Alberta invites 386 candidates in Oct. 20 immigration draw

Alberta invited 386 Express Entry candidates to apply to the Alberta Express Entry Stream in a Priority Sectors (General) draw on Oct. 20, with a minimum score of 60, according to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) website.

The province also held a Law Enforcement Pathway draw on Oct. 16. The AAIP said it issued fewer than 10 invitations, with a minimum score of 49.

The AAIP page, last updated Oct. 21, also lists an Oct. 13 draw under the Dedicated Health Care Pathway for Express Entry candidates. It shows 53 invitations and a minimum score of 57. That pathway is listed separately from the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

Alberta said it holds draws as needed rather than on a fixed schedule, and it does not disclose all selection factors. The scores listed are the lowest among candidates invited in each round, not a guaranteed cut-off for future draws.

Candidates invited by the province must still submit a full application to the AAIP. A nomination from Alberta is not permanent residence. Nominees then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence, and IRCC makes the final decision.

The latest round follows two earlier October draws covered by Canada News Media, which saw Alberta invite 145 candidates in two immigration draws. At the federal level, IRCC invited 7,500 candidates in Canadian Experience Class and French-language draws and 752 provincial nominees earlier this month.

People with an Express Entry profile who are interested in Alberta can check eligibility and current draw results on the AAIP processing information page.
