The SanDisk Ultra is the best value microSD card on Amazon.ca at $72.16 for 256GB, while the SanDisk High Endurance suits dash cams and security cameras. For 4K video, the SanDisk Extreme and Amazon Basics 200MB/s card are the faster options. All five cards below ship from and are sold by Amazon.ca.

Prices below were checked on the live Amazon.ca listings on Nov. 7, 2026, and may change. Every card was priced in the 256GB size, which is the most common pick for phones, action cameras and dash cams. Ratings and review counts are the figures shown on each listing.

SanDisk Ultra 256GB microSD

This is the card for people who want plenty of space without paying for speed they will not use. Amazon.ca lists it at $72.16, with a 4.7 out of 5 rating from 274,137 reviews, the largest review count of any card here. SanDisk lists read speeds up to 150MB/s, an A1 app rating and Class 10 for Full HD video, and the listing pitches it at Android phones and tablets.
It is a sensible pick for a phone, a tablet or a basic camera. It is not the one to buy if you shoot 4K video, since the listing makes Full HD claims rather than 4K ones. We did not read individual review text, so we cannot report common complaints.

SanDisk Extreme 256GB microSD

The Extreme is aimed at people who record video on a drone, an action camera or a phone. Amazon.ca lists it at $95.23, rated 4.7 out of 5 across 36,547 reviews. SanDisk lists up to 190MB/s read and 130MB/s write speeds, UHS Speed Class 3 and Video Speed Class 30 for 4K and 5K video, and an A2 app rating.
That makes it a better match for 4K clips than the Ultra, for about $23 more. SanDisk notes that speeds depend on the device, so a camera that cannot write that fast will not benefit. We did not read individual review text.

SanDisk High Endurance 256GB microSD

Cards that record constantly wear out faster, and this one is built for that job. Amazon.ca lists it at $99.99, rated 4.6 out of 5 from 76,504 reviews. SanDisk says it is designed for dash cams and home monitoring systems and can record up to 20,000 hours on the 256GB size, and describes it as temperature-proof, waterproof, shockproof and X-ray-proof.
It is the card to choose for a dash cam or a security camera that loops over old footage. It costs more than the Ultra and is not the pick for quick photo offloads. See our dash cam buying guide and our home security camera guide for cameras that take this kind of card. We did not read individual review text.

Amazon Basics 256GB microSDXC, 200MB/s

The store-brand card undercuts the SanDisk Extreme by a little on price while quoting higher read speeds. Amazon.ca lists it at $93.67, rated 4.7 out of 5 across 3,071 reviews, a much smaller sample than the SanDisk cards. The listing quotes read speeds up to 200MB/s and write speeds up to 150MB/s, with U3, Class 10 and A2 ratings, and says it is IPX6 waterproof and shockproof.
The listing notes that reaching 200MB/s needs a compatible device. It suits shoppers who want 4K-capable specs and are comfortable with a store brand that has fewer reviews. We did not read individual review text.

Samsung EVO Plus 256GB microSD

The EVO Plus is the priciest card here at $109.99, rated 4.6 out of 5 from just 124 reviews on this listing. Samsung lists speeds up to 160MB/s with U3 and Class 10 ratings, and says the card is protected against water, temperature, X-rays, magnets, drops and wear. The listing is marked as the Canada version.
It suits phones, tablets and handheld gaming devices for buyers who prefer the Samsung name. At this price, the SanDisk Extreme offers higher listed speeds for less. We did not read individual review text.

How to choose
Start with the device. Phones and tablets are fine with a card like the Ultra. A drone, an action camera or a camera shooting 4K video needs a card with a U3 or V30 rating, which the Extreme and the Amazon Basics card carry on their listings. Dash cams and home cameras record around the clock, so an endurance card is the safer pick.
Check what your device accepts before buying. Many devices cap the card size they can read, and handheld consoles can have their own card rules. Nintendo’s newer Switch 2 console uses a different card format called microSD Express, so confirm your console’s requirements; the standard cards here are not a substitute.
Buy from Amazon.ca or the brand’s own store, which is why we checked the seller on every listing, because fake memory cards are a known problem on marketplaces. Warranty terms vary by brand, so read the listing. Prices in Canada move around Black Friday, so see our Black Friday 2026 guide for dates, and our portable SSD guide if you need to move large files.
Frequently asked questions
What size microSD card should I buy?
For a phone, 128GB to 256GB covers most people. Video-heavy users on drones and action cameras may want 256GB or more, as long as the device supports it.
What do U3, V30 and A2 mean?
U3 and V30 are video speed ratings that tell you a card is meant for 4K recording. A1 and A2 are app ratings for running apps from the card, and the SanDisk listings give A2 as 4,000 read and 2,000 write operations a second.
Will a microSD card work in a full-size SD slot?
The five listings here each say an SD adapter is included, so the card can be used in a full-size SD slot.
Are these cards sold by Amazon.ca?
Yes. We checked the main buying option on each listing on Nov. 7, 2026, and each said it ships from and is sold by Amazon.ca. Other sellers appear on some listings at different prices.
How we chose
We searched Amazon.ca for 256GB microSD cards, kept those sold by Amazon.ca, and covered different uses and price levels. Specs, prices, ratings and review counts come from each live listing and the manufacturers’ claims, and we made no performance tests or claims of our own. Cards sold by third-party sellers, including the SanDisk Extreme PRO and the Lexar Blue, were left out.
