The Buffalo Sabres announced that “as of now” Thursday’s game against the Boston Bruins will go on as scheduled after further testing and contact tracing.
Both teams cancelled practices on Thursday morning, with a Sabres hockey staff member and a Bruins player entering the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols.
Thursday’s practice and game would be the first with interim coach Don Granato serving as the bench boss. The Sabres fired coach Ralph Krueger and assistant Steve Smith on Wednesday amid an 0-10-2 stretch.
The Sabres were also planning to welcome a limited number of fans back to their stadium on Thursday night for the first time this season.
Earlier this season, the Sabres had their schedule paused for two weeks as seven players and Krueger were placed in the league’s protocols.
