Calgary can expect a chance of flurries and a risk of freezing drizzle overnight into Friday morning, according to Environment Canada’s forecast for the city.
The forecast calls for mainly cloudy skies Thursday night with a 30 per cent chance of flurries, a risk of freezing drizzle overnight and fog patches developing. The low is minus 7, with a wind chill near minus 13.
On Friday, there is a 30 per cent chance of flurries in the morning, again with a risk of freezing drizzle, before fog dissipates near noon. The high is forecast at plus 2, with a wind chill of minus 12 in the morning. Winds are expected to stay up to 15 km/h.
Freezing drizzle can leave a thin glaze of ice on roads, sidewalks and bridges that is hard to see. Drivers should allow extra time for the morning commute, leave more space behind other vehicles and watch for slick spots on overpasses. Pedestrians should wear footwear with good traction.
Calgary was at minus 2.7 C late Thursday evening. No weather warning is in effect for the city, and the forecast is posted on the Environment Canada Calgary page.
