The Canada Disability Benefit pays up to $204.20 a month to eligible recipients, and the next payments are expected on Nov. 19 and Dec. 17, according to the Government of Canada.
The federal payment is made on the third Thursday of each month, the government says on its payments page. Those November and December dates follow from that rule, and the official benefits calendar is the place to confirm them. The maximum monthly amount of $204.20 applies to the July 2026 to June 2027 benefit year, the government says on its amount page. What a person actually receives depends on income, and the government offers an online estimator to work out a likely figure.
To qualify, a person needs an approved Disability Tax Credit certificate from the Canada Revenue Agency. If you qualify, you are paid the month after your application is approved. Applicants can apply up to six months before their 18th birthday, according to the program page.
A one-time $150 supplemental payment is also part of the program. It is meant to help offset the cost of obtaining the Disability Tax Credit certificate, Jobs and Families Minister Patty Hajdu said in a federal news release in September. “This new supplemental payment will help cover the cost of getting the disability tax credit,” Hajdu said.
People who received a Canada Disability Benefit payment between July 2025 and June 2026 were due to receive the $150 on Sept. 17. People who became eligible since July 2026, and people approved for a new certificate, are due to receive it in winter 2027. There is no need to apply for the supplement, and the government says it will be issued automatically.
The government said 335,650 people had received benefit payments to that point, totalling $813,074,098.
Changes to the benefit’s regulations took effect Sept. 1, 2026. Among them, Canada Disability Benefit payments are exempt from the definition of adjusted income under the Income Tax Act, the program page says.
Anyone who pauses or stops payments cannot request back payments for that period, the payments page says. Recipients whose payments have been paused for more than 24 months must reapply.
The benefit is one of several federal payments arriving in the coming weeks. Our November benefit payment dates guide and December guide list the full schedules, and we have also covered what is coming with CPP and OAS on Oct. 28. Readers should check eligibility and amounts on the Government of Canada’s disability benefit pages or with Service Canada.
