It appears the people of Portage-Lisgar have spoken, and they have elected another Conservative Party of Canada Member of Parliament to Ottawa.
As of 10:40 p.m., unofficial results, show Portage la Prairie’s Branden Leslie will represent the riding in Parliament, with the Conservative Party of Canada candidate picked up roughly 63 per cent of the vote.
Leader of the People’s Party of Canada (PPC), Max Bernier, looks to finish second with roughly 18 per cent. In the September 2021 General Election, the PPC finished with approximately 22 per cent.
Kerry Smith and the Liberal Party are projected to finish third (roughly 9 per cent), while Lisa Tessier-Burch of the NDP (roughly 7.5 per cent) and Nicolas Geddert of the Green Party (roughly 2.4 per cent) are projected to finish fourth and fifth respectively.
We expect to hear from Branden Leslie shortly, and will update this story with his comments when they are available.
