The City of Hamilton has announced public Remembrance Day services from Friday, Nov. 6, to Wednesday, Nov. 11, including a Nov. 8 parade that will close part of King Street downtown.
The city said in a news release issued Nov. 2 that the services honour Veterans, active military members and those who died in service to Canada.
The 3rd Annual Indigenous Veterans Day Service is set for 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, at Battlefield House Museum & Park, 77 King St. W. A brief reception will follow.
The City of Hamilton Garrison Parade and Service is on Sunday, Nov. 8. The parade starts at 10:15 a.m. at the John Foote V.C. Armouries, 200 James St. N., and ends at Veterans’ Place in Gore Park, where the service begins at 10:45 a.m. King Street will be closed from Catharine Street to James Street from 10 to 11:45 a.m.
The main Hamilton Remembrance Day Service is Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 10:45 a.m. at Veterans’ Place in Gore Park, on King Street East. The city said it will be broadcast live on Cable 14 and on its YouTube channel, Inside City of Hamilton, for those who cannot attend.
American Sign Language interpretation will be available at both Gore Park ceremonies, with reserved seating for members of the Deaf community. The city encouraged people to arrive early because seating will not be accessible once the ceremonies begin.
Additional public ceremonies are planned during Remembrance Week in Binbrook, Ancaster, Dundas, Hamilton Mountain, Mount Hope, Stoney Creek, Waterdown and West Hamilton. Details are on the city’s website at hamilton.ca/RemembranceDay.
Hamilton is also among the places offering veterans free transit on Remembrance Day 2026. Elsewhere, Virginia Hicks was named the 2026 National Silver Cross Mother, and the city is heading into a new term after Keanin Loomis was elected mayor on Oct. 26.
