Animal abuse statistics show that animals are subjected to abuse on a daily basis, and most abuse cases do not make it to court, so animals continue to suffer and abusers get away with misuse, torture and killing of these innocents.

How does this abuse of animals affect us all? Young people and children are very impressionable, so if they witness abuse, whether that of an animal or fellow human, they may be inclined to repeat it. Statistics have shown that children that have been abused, may abuse animals, using their pets as scapegoats of their anger and impressed emotions. The experience of witnessing animal abuse can bring out the greatness of humanity, and its respect for life or humanity’s the bad side, placing profitability/selfishness above life in general.
Since 2019 animal abuse is punishable by The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act(PACT). Violating this act could result in up to seven years in prison. The Animal Rights Movement hope this law would decrease the episodes of cruelty. From the period of 2019 – 2022 animal cruelty statistics have increased a further 12%. All the while, 65% of US and Canadian Citizens overwhelmingly oppose testing and experiments on animals. Our citizens are empathetic toward animals and their plight.
Humanity’s attempt to develop an understanding of what our relationship to animals should be/could be may lie in The Bible. Genesis tells us that animals were created and placed in THE Garden of Eden, not as food, but to be protected and managed by humanity(What Adam and Eve represent). As the population increased animals may have become the source for the Masses protein. That may be so, but the intention of The Divine did not change…Creation was put into humanity’s hands to be managed and protected respectfully. Have we failed that Divine edict?
