Josh Morgan re-elected London mayor, Stevenson second

Incumbent Josh Morgan has been re-elected mayor of London, Ont., winning a second term in the Oct. 26 municipal election.

With 93.8 per cent of polls reported, Morgan led runner-up Susan Stevenson by 17,681 votes, CTV News London reported early Tuesday. The results are unofficial until the city clerk certifies them.

Morgan was first elected London’s 65th mayor in 2022. Before that he served two terms as the Ward 7 city councillor, elected in 2014 and 2018, CTV said.

Stevenson thanked voters in a Facebook post. She wrote that the result was not the one she had hoped for but that she was grateful to everyone who believed in her vision for a better London, CTV reported.

On council, nine incumbents were returned, according to CTV’s ward-by-ward tally. They are Hadleigh McAlister in Ward 1, Shawn Lewis in Ward 2, Sam Trosow in Ward 6, Steve Lehman in Ward 8, Anna Hopkins in Ward 9, Paul Van Meerbergen in Ward 10, Skylar Franke in Ward 11, Elizabeth Peloza in Ward 12 and David Ferreira in Ward 13. Van Meerbergen is heading into his sixth term, and Hopkins into her fourth.

There are also fresh faces at city hall. Jason King, a Londoner for 31 years, was elected in Ward 14. Corrine Rahman, who represented Ward 7 from 2022 to 2026, won Ward 5, and London West MP Arielle Kayabaga congratulated Jonathan Sher as the councillor for Ward 7.

This summary covers the races CTV had confirmed at the time of writing. The results for Wards 3 and 4 were not confirmed in the sources we checked, and we will update this story when the city posts its full unofficial results. Voters across the region also chose mayors on election night, including in Mississauga, Hamilton, Ottawa and Toronto.
