Mark Sutcliffe was re-elected mayor of Ottawa on Monday night, winning a second term with 44.6 per cent of the vote in unofficial results from the City of Ottawa.
With all 824 tabulators reporting, Sutcliffe had 139,354 votes. Coun. Jeff Leiper finished second with 105,819 votes, or 33.9 per cent. Neil Saravanamuttoo was third with 34,463 votes (11 per cent) and Alex Lawson fourth with 23,605 votes (7.6 per cent).
CTV News Ottawa reported that Leiper conceded and that Sutcliffe told reporters it had been “a tough campaign.” CTV said 21 councillors were also returned to city council for the four-year term.
The results are unofficial until the city clerk declares them. Turnout was not available in the city figures read by Canada News Media at the time of publication, and this story will be updated when it is.
Sutcliffe, a former broadcaster, was first elected in 2022. Voters in Toronto, Hamilton, London and Kitchener-Waterloo also chose mayors and councils on Monday.
