Drug and weapons charges laid
A Guelph male faces several drug and weapons charges after he was observed Wednesday attempting to hide from police.
Officers were patrolling in the area of Willow Road and Silvercreek Parkway North approximately 10:15 a.m. when they observed a male trying to hide behind a bus shelter, then dart across Willow Road barely avoiding several vehicles.
The male was stopped and was found to be wanted for breaching probation orders. A search incident to arrest revealed quantities of suspected cocaine, fentanyl and Diazepam as well as five cellphones and pepper spray.
A 41-year-old Guelph male is further charged with two counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a controlled substance, possessing a prohibited weapon and two counts of breaching probation.
He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
Witnesses sought following collision
The Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit is looking to speak to anyone who witnessed a collision in the south end Wednesday morning.
A black Land Rover and white Audi collided between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. at the intersection of Gordon Street and Arkell Road. Wanted female faces new charges
A female already wanted on an outstanding warrant faces new charges following her arrest Wednesday.
Approximately 5:35 p.m. Guelph Police Service officers were patrolling downtown when they spotted a female they knew to be wanted on charges including possessing stolen property.
The female was arrested, and a search incident to arrest revealed stolen license plates and a wallet as well as small amounts of suspected fentanyl and Hydromorphone.
A 41-year-old Guelph female was further charged with possessing stolen property, possessing a stolen credit card and possessing a controlled substance. She will appear in a Guelph court November 18, 2022.
Downtown patio damaged
A Toronto male faces charges after damaging a downtown Guelph patio and then providing a fake name Wednesday.
Just before noon two males were involved in a physical altercation in front of a downtown business. As officers approached one of the males fled on foot, breaking several wooden boards on a patio as he did so. The male was apprehended a short distance away and arrested for mischief.
He provided a false name and date of birth and was transported to the police station for further investigation. He later provided his true identity.
An 18-year-old Toronto male is charged with mischief under $5,000 and obstruct police. He will appear in a Guelph court October 28, 2022.
