To the folks who celebrated America’s Memorial Day both joyfully and with a lost memory regained, to those who had and have family members serving in the US Forces, and for those who lost a loved one serving their homeland, I tip my hat to you, asking for God’s Blessing Upon you all.
The American tradition of Memorial Day brings to light a deep devotion to their homeland. This devotion can be very uplifting, as opposed to oppressive to the truth of history. President Trump’s call to make America Great Again implies that America was once a Great Nation, having lost its greatness, but is in the process of regaining its magnificence. I have lived in America for years and have never lost the thought or belief that Americans are a good people and their nation is beautifully proud of itself.
Please realize you have not gotten where you are without others helping you along. America has always been an International Team Effort!
The American War of Independence would not have been won had it not been for internationalists intervention. The weapons used by the Patriots were often French, and the well trained officers, NCO’s and troopers along side them were often French Marines and Irish Radicals who travelled to America to kick the British in the Royal Ass. Don’t forget the greatest of America’s Patriots, a Frenchman named Marquis Lafayette, who persuaded the French King to finance America’s Rebellion and send troops. America was not alone.
During the horrid American Civil War, over 25,000 Canadians, Irishmen and Europeans joined the Union to fight the Confederacy. Americans proudly claim they won the 1st and Second World Wars. A myth at best. Sure American industry protected on the other side of the pond could produce massive amounts of weaponry, but Canadians, British, Free French, European Freedom fighters and troops from all over the world teamed up to push the Nazi’s and then the Imperial Japanese out towards peace talks. Again, a team effort.
Canadians defended many hills in Korea, fighting alongside their American, New Zealand and Australian Brothers. Over 50,000 Canadians fought alongside Americans in Vietnam, and then in Afghanistan as well. Through victory or defeat, these soldiers stood by their comrades from America, not to make America Great Again but to protect the oppressed and to bring about a lasting peace in the world. America’s mindset today seems to be insular, isolationist and provocative. Is that what is meant to make your nation great again???
Yankee Doodle Dandy, you are never alone! Your allies have been with you all along. So why are you kicking your allies in the ass, creating economic and financial turmoil across the world, weakening alliance that once held authoritarian nations at bay. If you have a debt of $350 trillion, stop spending on items not fully needed, like the massive debt sponge your Pentagon has become. Cut your military budget away, and pay the piper come what may. Your allies will always be with you as long as you remain a democracy of note. And remember please, why do you think millions of people want to move to America? Not to take your jobs, your homes or futures, but to help build a better America and a Better World.
