Moncton city council has ratified a four-year collective agreement with the City Hall Employees Association that raises pay 4 per cent in 2026 and 3 per cent a year for each of the three years after.
Council approved the deal at its regular public meeting on Nov. 2, the city said in a news release. The agreement is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026, and expires on Dec. 31, 2029.
The association, local 60200 of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, represents about 275 employees in professional, technical and clerical jobs. It also covers civilian members of the Codiac RCMP and community safety officers.
The previous agreement expired on Dec. 31, 2025. The two sides began bargaining in February 2026.
Other changes include a higher employee vehicle allowance, a change to the starting vacation allotment and an updated job evaluation system, which the city said keeps pay structures fair and consistent.
“CHEA staff are part of every City department, making direct contributions to services that our residents rely on every day,” Mayor Shawn Crossman said in the release.
Rod Dunnett, president of the local, thanked both bargaining teams and the members for their patience and solidarity. He said the union hopes the agreement provides a strong foundation for cooperation and a positive working relationship with the city.
For a worker earning $60,000 in 2025, the compounded increases would bring pay to about $68,200 by 2029, based on the percentages in the release. The release did not include wage grids or the cost of the agreement.
