My Chemical Romance’s 2006 album The Black Parade jumped from No. 139 to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated Nov. 7, 2026, giving the New Jersey rock band its first No. 1 album after a 20-year wait, Billboard reported on Nov. 1.
The album earned 78,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 29, up 653 per cent, according to Luminate data cited by Billboard. That is the largest leap to the top since Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) went from No. 157 to No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 16, 2021.
Billboard said 68,000 of those units were traditional album sales, up 2,082 per cent, and 42,000 of the sales were vinyl, the band’s best week ever on that format. Streaming equivalent albums added 10,000 units, up 34 per cent, which Billboard said equals 10.14 million on-demand official streams.
The surge followed a reissue of the album with more than 20 physical variants on vinyl, CD and cassette, including signed editions. Billboard said The Black Parade also climbed from No. 29 to No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.
The album knocked Olivia Rodrigo’s “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” to No. 2. Billboard said that album earned 64,000 units, down 15 per cent. It said the Nos. 2 through 6 albums on the chart are all former No. 1s.
The original release debuted and peaked at No. 2 in 2006 and stayed the band’s highest-charting album until now, Parade reported. The single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2007.
Billboard said the 20-year gap is the longest an album has taken to reach No. 1, passing the 15 years and nine months it took Toby Keith’s 35 Biggest Hits. It is the third act this year to reach a first No. 1 after a decade or more, following Jhene Aiko and Megadeth, the magazine said.
The chart also showed a wider reissue trend. The Beatles’ Rubber Soul sits at No. 4, Beyonce’s B’Day at No. 8, and Mac Miller’s The Divine Feminine rose from No. 159 to No. 10, Billboard said.
Billboard said the full Billboard 200 was to be published Nov. 3. Our earlier chart coverage includes Tate McRae’s No. 1 debut last week.
