Paris Saint-Germain scored six goals against Villarreal, Manchester United rallied from two goals down to beat Roma, and Barcelona and Bayern Munich also won on Tuesday in the fourth round of the Champions League league phase.
The four matches were among the most-searched sports terms in Canada on Tuesday, with Google Trends listing Manchester United-Roma, Barcelona-Aston Villa, Atlético-Bayern and Villarreal-PSG among the fast-rising searches.
PSG beat Villarreal 6-0 and stayed perfect in the competition. Paris scored four goals in the first 17 minutes, which UEFA and other outlets reported as the fastest four goals by a team in a Champions League match.
Manchester United beat Roma 3-2 after trailing by two goals at halftime. Matheus Cunha scored twice late to complete the comeback, and he was later sent off. The win ended a nine-match winless run for United, according to ESPN and CBS Sports.
Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3-0. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the seventh minute, and Raphinha scored twice in the second half. It was Villa’s first defeat of the competition after three straight wins.
Bayern Munich won 2-0 at Atlético Madrid. Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer scored for Bayern, which returned to winning ways after two consecutive draws.
The scores were consistent across UEFA, ESPN, CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports. The league-phase standings will continue to shift as teams play their remaining matches, and the top eight advance directly to the round of 16.
Roma, which lost in Manchester, had beaten Cagliari 4-2 in Serie A in a match decided by two late goals, as Canada News Media reported last week.
