Let’s be clear folks, our economic system has been responsible for historic growth through the decades, but it is also the cause of many problems we now face. Climate change, unpredictable weather, as well as stock market movement, nothing can be predicted; no one can be protected from economic swings up and down, with huge losses of money that we all need to survive. As the economy grows, so to our consumption of most everything. Trash fills our landfills uncontrollably, prices escalate, generating massive profits for corporations and massive debts for all of us trying to get by on credit.
Politically,y I see the Capitalist System having developed in Canada as an outdated model and a pillar of greedy mediocrity and laziness. All of us work for a living and set our sights on our next paycheck, while many become rich without having to earn that privilege.
Hockey Players(Go Leafs Go) and other members of professional sports get paid big bucks whether they perform or not. They get traded to another team and retire when their 35. Millionaires on ice, the football or baseball field, celebrities that entertain but do nothing else for society, not really.
Politicians get paid very well whether they perform or not. Can we recall someone who spends all their time lobbying for some sector of the Capitalistic Corporate team? No, we cannot. Kick them out when their term is over, and then see them working for the Big Corporate Influencers Team. There is no way that we can get either Corporate Big Wigs, Politicians or Sporting Professionals to perform, yet there is a myth among the Capitalists of the World that claims the Capitalist System is the greatest motivator for performance and accountability in the world. I think not. Our economic system hides its mistakes, allows them to continue their expensive fiasco until the judicial system has eyes upon them.
Accountability cannot be found in organizations that maintain an army of lawyers and forensic accountants able to transform paperwork into unreadable documents, or simply hide them away from the public’s/shareholders’ scrutiny. There is no accountability or transparency within any government or corporation, non at all. Many politicians will pass laws protecting themselves from any accountability before they act. The pandemic showed multiple governments legally protecting their members from possible future legal action with regards to vaccinations, healthcare protocol and contract manipulations.
Protections for the politicians are paid for by the public purse, and corporate hacks receive protection from their organizations as well. We are told they are doing our bidding, but why are they getting fat, lazy and seemingly corrupt in the process?
Democracy: Is it time for a real Economic Revolution?
