Xbox Series X: More Details On Backwards Compatibility And Cross-Gen Multiplayer Revealed – GameSpot

Published

on

Microsoft has shared even more details on Xbox Series X backwards compatibility and cross-generation multiplayer. In a blog post, Xbox’s Jason Ronald said announcing backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games on Xbox One was “one of the biggest highlights” for him at Xbox. For Xbox Series X, Microsoft wanted to “double down” and do even more for backwards compatibility.

The new console will not only play “thousands” of Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Original Xbox games, but these games are said to “play even better” on the new console.

“The team came and told us about Xbox Series X. They said, ‘What can you do with even more power?’ So, the challenge was set. They gave us the Xbox One X and it was like we got this big playground to play with,” Xbox backwards compatibility boss Peggy Lo said. “Then we got the Xbox Series X and it was like we had a whole amusement park to play in.”

Older-generation Xbox games will have better boot and load times, more stable frame rates, higher resolutions, and improved image quality, Xbox says. Additionally, the backwards compatibility developers at Xbox are using “entirely new techniques and innovations” to “further enhance” any games that runs on Xbox Series X.

Microsoft also confirmed that Xbox One accessories (including controllers you already have), as well as game saves and progression, will carry forward if you decide to buy an Xbox Series X.

Also in the blog post, Microsoft said Xbox One X will support “cross generation multiplayer,” but the company did not share any details on how this will work. Players on the newer console, which supports higher frame rates and better image quality, would theoretically have an advantage over those playing on older machines, but one added benefit is the player population of a game with cross-gen multiplayer would presumably be much larger.

Another Xbox Series X feature focused on compatibility is Smart Delivery. Under this program, players can buy a game for Xbox One and get a free upgrade for Xbox Series X. All of Microsoft’s first-party games support Smart Delivery, while some third-party games–including Cyberpunk 2077–will also take part. Participation in the program for third-party games is opt-in.

Microsoft made a long list of big announcements for the Xbox Series X. For everything you need to know, check out GameSpot’s Xbox Series X news roundup.

OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro to be unveiled on April 14 – MobileSyrup

Published

on

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is scheduled to announce its latest flagship series, the One Plus 8 and the 8 Pro, on April 14th.

All prior leaks have suggested that OnePlus would unveil the phones somewhere in mid-April, and it looks like they were correct. The event will take place online at 11am ET.

The OnePlus 8 Pro is rumoured to have a 6.78-inch ‘Super Fluid Curved’ display and a 120Hz refresh rate according to a recent leak. It’s also expected to have 128GB or 256GB of storage, along with 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

The 8 Pro’s display will have more accurate colours than past phones. It will also feature Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation (MEMC). MEMC is a form of motion smoothing, which is a technology that artificially adds frames to video to play it back at a higher refresh rate.

Rumours also indicate that it will have wireless charging, and a Time of Flight sensor for 3D face recognition and a 4,500 mAh battery.

Other rumours suggest a Snapdragon 865 processor and a hole-punch screen for the front-facing camera. The phones are reportedly going to come in three colours: black, teal and a ‘Glow’ colour scheme.

There have also been rumours about a budget-friendly OnePlus 8 Lite, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

We don’t have to wait much longer to find out all of the details about the phones. Stay tuned to MobileSyrup as we’ll be covering the digital unveiling event.

Resident Evil 3: PC graphics performance benchmark review – Article – Guide – Review – guru3d.com

Resident Evil 3 Remake for PC benchmarked
Preliminary PC graphics performance review for Windows 10 with 30 graphics cards

A remake of the 1999 Resident Evil 3, a playstyle that is similar to Resident Evil2’s remake in 2019, yep we landed at Resident Evil 3 (Nemesis). Resident Evil 3 stars Jill Valentine as she escapes from Raccoon City while being pursued by the unrelenting bioweapon Nemesis. Players can also participate in previously untold Umbrella experiments on the outskirts of Raccoon City in the included online asymmetrical multiplayer game Resident Evil Resistance, previously known as the working title Project Resistance.  obviously the Remake looks better, however, it’s really cool comparing these two versions. In case you didn’t know, Resident Evil 3 originally came out twenty years ago, in 1999 and as such, there has been quite a graphical evolution of RE3.

The PC version has better visuals based on new graphical and technical enhancements for deeper immersion. It is the third installment in the Resident Evil series and takes place in two parts, before and after the events of Resident Evil 2. The story follows Jill Valentine and her efforts to escape from a city infected with a biological weapon. Choices through the game affect the story and ending. The game uses the same engine as its predecessors and features 3D models over pre-rendered backgrounds with fixed camera angles. Originally planned as a spin-off featuring a different protagonist, Resident Evil 3 was designed to have more action-oriented gameplay than previous Resident Evil games. It features a larger number of enemies and introduces the Nemesis creature, which periodically pursues the player. Accompanied by a major marketing campaign, Resident Evil 3 received positive reviews and sold more than three million copies worldwide. Critics praised the game’s detailed graphics and the Nemesis as an intimidating villain, but some criticized its short length and story.

We take a look at the game in our usual in-depth ways. That would be tested on the PC gaming wise relative towards graphics card performance with the latest AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers. Many graphics cards are being tested and benchmarked. We have a look at performance with the newest graphics cards and technologies. Multiple graphics cards are being tested and benchmarked with the latest cards such as the GeForce GTX 10 and RTX 20 (Super) series included as well as the latest Radeon RX series 500, Vega, and 5000 graphics cards. You are going to need a reasonably modern PC with at least a mainstream graphics card to run the game nicely.  This article will cover benchmarks in the sense of average framerates, we’ll look at all popular resolutions scaling from Full HD (1920×1080/1200), WQHD (2560×1440) and of course Ultra HD. UHDTV (2160p) is 3840 pixels wide by 2160 pixels tall (8.29 megapixels), which is four times as many pixels as 1920×1080 (2.07 megapixels).  We test with the game based on the optimized and available AMD Radeon driver (download) and for Nvidia their GeForce WHQL driver (download). We’ll test the game on the PC platform relative to graphics card performance with the AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers.

OnePlus to announce OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, April 14 – CNET

Published

The OnePlus 7 Pro from 2019.

Angela Lang/CNET

Chinese phone maker OnePlus will announce its latest flagship phones for the year, known as the OnePlus 8 and the 8 Pro, on April 14. Known for selling premium Android phones at hundreds of dollars less than its competitors like Samsung and Google, OnePlus will unveil the devices through a digital event.

As follow-ups to the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, the phones are confirmed to have 5G connectivity and 120Hz displays, a step up from 2019’s 90Hz screens. Because of these features, the phones are likely to be pricier than last year’s, something OnePlus CEO Pete Lau anticipated.

“We’ve always had a position in creating the best product possible at the best price point,” said Lau in a interview earlier this month. “The new technology does add costs so costs have risen in comparison to 4G products.”

Other rumors include a hole-punch screen for the front-facing camera, a Snapdragon 865 processor and a new teal color. A possible budget-minded variant called the OnePlus 8 Lite has been floated as well.

For more information, check back with CNET on April 14 as we will be covering the announcement and let us know if you’re planning to get a OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro.
