Until recently, Home for Hooves [Duncan, BC] was one of two farm sanctuaries located on Vancouver Island, and is the first Accredited Farm Sanctuary in all of Canada.
After providing wonderful care for hundreds of animals throughout the time of their operation, the other island sanctuary R.A.S.T.A., announced earlier this year that they would be closing permanently. Home for Hooves agreed to take the 101 animals from R.A.S.T.A. into their care, and the timeline of their arrival has been expedited significantly.

Home for Hooves has launched a campaign to raise crucial funds, to purchase a 50+ acre property on Southern Vancouver Island. A Forever Home [for Hooves], is a fundraiser and raffle orchestrated by community organizer and activist Zoe Peled, bringing together 25 businesses across BC to raise awareness and funds for the sanctuary.
Home for Hooves provides rescued, abandoned and surrendered farm animals with a forever home that emulates a natural and enriching environment, striving to educate the public through knowledge and stories that inspire a compassionate lifestyle. They care for pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, dogs, guinea pigs, cats, and peafowl. Following the merge with R.A.S.T.A, they will also care for cows, donkeys, mini horses, sheep, and birds.
