
Region of Waterloo Public Health reported 43 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday afternoon.
Region of Waterloo Associate Medical Officer of Health Dr. Julie Emili said that the individual who passed was a woman in her 60s and is expressing her sympathy to the family and loved ones.
This latest update brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 11,247 since March.
The number of active cases has increased to 333 from 330 since Friday.
Here are some other updates from the Waterloo Region’s COVID summary dashboard on Saturday:
- 10,659 resolved cases (95 per cent).
- There have been 237 deaths in the region linked to the virus. The latest was confirmed on March 13.
- 29 cases are currently hospitalized (seven in ICU).
- 13,401 people in the region fully vaccinated.
There are currently 19 active outbreaks in the region:
- NEW Home Childcare Centre 3 (three cases)
- NEW Highland Public School (two cases)
- Courtland Avenue Public School (two cases)
- Manufacturing/industrial 29 (two cases)
- St. Mary’s General Hospital – 4th Floor
- Place of worship 1 – wedding related (12 cases)
- St. Andrew’s Terrace Long-Term Care – Beech Grove (two staff cases)
- Forest Heights Long-Term Care (three staff cases)
- Congregate setting 34 (one case)
- Congregate setting 33 (four cases)
- Highland Place Retirement Home (one staff case)
- Congregate setting 5 (11 cases)
- Cambridge Memorial Hospital – Rehabilitation Unit
- Grand River Hospital – 5A
- Grand River Hospital – 5North and 5South
- The Village at University Gates long-term care – Wright Unit (three staff cases)
- Congregate setting 30 (36 cases, one death)
- Court at Laurelwood Retirement Residence (15 cases in residents, three in staff, three deaths)
- Congregate setting 18 – multiple locations (127 cases)
The outbreaks at EduKids Childcare Centre, Sunnyside Public School and Chartwell Clair Hills Retirement Home have ended.
