Shane Bieber will have to wait one more day for his season debut.
Dylan Cease, who was set to start at Wrigley Field, will get the nod in Monday’s series opener against the Astros (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT).
A mid-season acquisition by the Blue Jays last summer, Bieber managed only seven regular-season starts with Toronto as he recovered from a Tommy John surgery he underwent the season prior, while with the Cleveland Guardians. He finished with a 3.57 ERA and 1.017 WHIP in 40.1 innings.
He had been sidelined since spring training with elbow inflammation.
