The Canada Disability Benefit is scheduled to be paid Oct. 15, with further payments Nov. 19 and Dec. 17, according to the federal benefit payment calendar. The maximum monthly amount for July 2026 to June 2027 is $204.20.
The government’s Canada Disability Benefit page says the amount is based on a person’s 2025 tax return. The maximum for July 2025 to June 2026 was $200 a month, or $2,400 a year.
The benefit is meant for low-income people with disabilities who are between 18 and 64 years old, according to the program page. Monthly payments depend on having an approved Disability Tax Credit certificate, the government said in its program description. People can apply online up to six months before their 18th birthday.
A new applicant’s first payment is made on the third Thursday of the month after approval and includes back payments. Those can cover up to 24 months from the date the application was received, starting from June 2025, the government said.
Income determines how much a person receives. A single person, including someone who is separated, divorced or widowed, gets the full amount if adjusted family net income is at or below $23,000 after the working income exemption. Above that level, the benefit drops by 20 cents for every dollar.
For a couple where only one partner is eligible, the full benefit is paid at or below $32,500 after the couple exemption, and it also falls by 20 cents per dollar above that. When both partners are eligible, each person’s benefit falls by 10 cents per dollar above $32,500.
For July 2026 to June 2027, the working income exemption is $10,210 for single people and $14,294 combined for couples. It was $10,000 and $14,000 the year before.
A one-time $150 supplemental payment is also being issued. People who received a Canada Disability Benefit payment between July 2025 and June 2026 were to get it Sept. 17, along with a letter, and no application is needed. Anyone whose first payment came after June 2026 will receive the supplement at a later date, the government said.
The Canada Revenue Agency and Service Canada are the sources for individual eligibility and amounts. People with questions can use the government’s Canada Disability Benefit estimator or contact Service Canada through the Canada.ca page.
