A former National League MVP has been released.
The 39-year-old had a .333/.375/.533 slash line with one home run and five RBIs over nine games with triple-A Gwinnett.
He also played 37 games with the Texas Rangers earlier this season, hitting for an identical single home run and five RBIs, but with a much worse .192/.277/.260 line.
McCutchen won MVP for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013 with a 7.8 wins above replacement season.
He has 333 career home runs, 220 stolen bases and an .819 OPS over 18 seasons split between the Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers and New York Yankees.
