Canada captain Alphonso Davies scored for Bayern Munich, but Declan Rice’s late goal earned Arsenal a 2-2 draw in the UEFA Champions League at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026.
Eberechi Eze gave Arsenal the lead in the 25th minute. Eze did not start the match, and ESPN’s match commentary said his goal stood after a video review.
Davies, who started for Bayern, brought the home side level 10 minutes later with a finish in the 35th minute. ESPN’s match data credited Harry Kane with the through ball.
Kane then put Bayern in front from the penalty spot in the 61st minute. ESPN reported that the penalty was given for a handball by Arsenal defender Jurriën Timber.
Rice answered in the 82nd minute to rescue a point for the Premier League club, and neither side could find a winner in the final minutes.
UEFA named Kane the player of the match. Italian referee Davide Massa took charge in front of 75,000 fans, according to UEFA’s match data. No player was sent off.
The goal came three months after Canada’s World Cup run came to an end in July. Arsenal, meanwhile, stayed unbeaten in this season’s league phase, nine months after a January loss to Manchester United shook up last season’s Premier League title race.
A night earlier, on Tuesday, Canadian striker Tani Oluwaseyi scored for Villarreal in a 4-3 loss at Liverpool.
The draw leaves Arsenal seventh in the 36-team league-phase table with seven points from two wins and a draw, according to UEFA’s standings. Bayern has one win and two draws and sits 14th with five points.
The top eight clubs after the eight-match league phase advance directly to the round of 16. Teams finishing ninth to 24th go into a knockout playoff round, and the bottom 12 are eliminated.
Bayern visits Atlético Madrid on Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. ET (1 p.m. MT). Arsenal plays at Slavia Prague on Nov. 4, also at 3 p.m. ET.
Champions League matches are streamed in Canada on DAZN, which holds the competition’s Canadian rights through the 2026-27 season.
