Ahead of iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max pre-orders beginning tomorrow, the first hands-on videos and stories have now been published. These hands-on looks offer more detail on the all-new size options offered by the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The Verge has some detail on the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini:
It’s honestly a bit weird to hold at first, especially if you’re coming from a big phone. Some things do take a bit of an adjustment, like typing — but other parts of using an iPhone, like swiping down from the top of the display for notifications or the control center, are easier than they’ve been in years. But for the first time since arguably the iPhone 8, Apple has made a flagship phone that nearly anyone should be able to comfortably use and hold in one hand.
And some details on the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max:
As for how the 12 Pro Max is to actually use and hold, it’s still very much a surfboard of a phone, just like Apple’s other Plus and Max-sized devices. Looking at it on its own is somewhat deceptive, since it’s proportionally similar to the regular-sized models. It’s only when you see it in context next to another iPhone that the scale of it really hits you.
CNET has some additional details on the iPhone 12 mini, saying that it’s a “return to the idea of packing the most features into the smallest body.”
With a 5.4-inch screen and the same features as the regular iPhone 12, this 4.8-ounce phone could be just right for anyone with small hands or small pockets, or who just wants something less tablet-like. In my average-size hands, it felt incredibly small, which really just shows you how much we’ve been acclimated to huge phones.
TechCrunch adds that the iPhone 12 Pro Max doesn’t appear “exceptionally large” despite being the biggest iPhone ever:
All of the four sizes were present and accounted for. As someone who’s been testing a fair number of large Android devices in recent months, the 6.7-inch Pro Max doesn’t appear exceptionally large. As you can see in that top photo, however, the difference between it and the Mini is pretty pronounced.
Engadget also got to spend some time with the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, and it has a great gallery of images highlighting the new designs.
What’s important to note is that these are not full reviews of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Apple appears to have held a very small hands-on experience for certain publications, and each appears to have gotten a short period of time to try out the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
We still expect a full review embargo for the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max to lift sometime next week, at which point we’ll learn more about the performance, battery life, and other features. In the meantime, these videos can be helpful if you’re trying to make a decision ahead of iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max pre-orders beginning tomorrow at 5 a.m. PT/8 a.m. ET.

The Apple Store Black Friday deals have been unveiled, but here's where to find better prices on Apple gear – CNET
This story is part of
, CNET’s gift picks with expert advice, reviews and recommendations for the latest tech gifts for you and your family.
Apple has revealed its Black Friday weekend deals, which run from Friday, Nov. 27, through , Nov. 30. As in years past, though, there’s a catch: offers little in the way of discounts on iPhones, iPads, Macs or accessories like , and . Instead, depending on the product you can get up to a $150 Apple Store gift card.
The exact value of the gift card will vary but in order to get the full $150 gift card you’d need to buy either an iMac Pro.or . Other Macs, including the that features , are not eligible. Neither are the new MacBook Air, Mac Mini, larger 27-inch iMac or
If you can still find a 13-inch Intel-equipped MacBook Air or Intel-equipped 13-inch MacBook Pro with two Thunderbolt ports you could get a $50 Apple Store gift card. As Apple discontinued both models, you’d have to find one of these in a physical Apple Store.
Beyond the Macs, most new Apple gear is not eligible for the gift card promotion. You could get a $50 gift card with the iPhone 12 line). Gift cards for iPads are limited to $50 for the iPad Mini or $100 for either size of the iPad Pro with no offers available for the new iPad or iPad Air., or (so, not the new
Apple is also not offering double Apple Card cash back, which it did last year. This year the cashback rate appears to be staying at its regular 3%.
The promotions are yet another reminder that the best Apple deals are almost always found outside Apple’s own physical or virtual store. At the Apple Store, for instance, a new set of($159) or ($249) can get you a $25 Apple Store gift card but no discount off the regular price. Woot, by contrast, has already cut the $250 price of AirPods Pro down to , and . Standard AirPods are currently , and have dipped as low as $99 at online retailers in recent weeks. That’s a savings of $59 to $80 on the Pro model and up to $40 on the standard AirPods — both much more than a $25 gift card that can only be redeemed later.
All the major US carriers have Apple Watches (including the latest Series 6), iPads (regular, new Air and Pros) and the Intel MacBook Air (currently , but that’s up from $150 off earlier this week).while on
Apple also doesn’t make the full list of which products get which discount easily accessible on its promo page, but if you’re interested in the full list you can find it here.
The best deals appear to be on the, which gets you a $100 gift card, and the , which gets youa $50 gift card. Neither product has seen the same level of discounting at other stores this season, though the HomePod has .
All told, unless you want one of those two devices or to buy something directly from Apple, you’re likely better off shopping elsewhere for deals on Apple products.
Epic Black Friday TV deal: This 75-inch 4K Roku is crazy cheap right now – Tom's Guide
Bigger TVs usually come with much bigger price tags, which is why this Black Friday deal is one you should not miss. Right now you can get a 75-inch Roku TV for less than $600 at Walmart – that’s $400 off the regular price.
Walmart is selling a Hisense 75-inch 4K Roku TV for $598, an astonishingly low price for a 4K smart TV of this size. It’s one of the best Black Friday TV deals we’ve seen yet.
Hisense 75″ Roku Smart TV was $998, now $598 @ Walmart
This 75-inch 4K TV is a great Black Friday TV deal for those looking to go big. It has Roku’s interface built in, and you can use Alexa to control the TV. Add in HDR support and DTS Studio Sound and you have a great value. View Deal
Note that while this Hisense Walmart page says that the regular price is $698, the MSRP is really $999. So you’re saving $400.
Walmart’s Black Friday TV deal is for the 2019 Hisense 75-inch TV (model 75R6E1), so it’s a little bit older, and we suspect Walmart is trying to clear out inventory. (There’s a newer model, the 75R6E3, which came out this year).
But that doesn’t mean the 75R6E1 doesn’t have its positives, and at less than $600, it looks to be a good model for those on a budget who want a massive set. For starters, it has Roku built in, which we consider to be one of the best streaming devices around.
The Hisense set has a modest three HDMI ports and just one USB port, but it also has dual-band Wi-Fi as well as an Ethernet port. It also has an antenna port if you want to attach one of the best TV antennas for over-the-air broadcasts.
Be sure to check out all of the Best Black Friday TV deals from all the major brands, especially if you’re looking for a different size.

There’s finally a better Black Friday TV deal than the LG CX OLED – TechRadar
You heard us. There’s an incredible TV deal running right now at Best Buy that puts recent discounts on the LG CX OLED to shame – and it’s on the Sony A8 OLED TV.
The 65-inch Sony A8 OLED is now retailing for $1,799, after a whopping $1,000 discount at Best Buy. It’s now the same price as the 55-inch model’s RRP, and is an exceptionally good buy if you’re in the market for a new OLED TV that’s a bit larger than the standard flagship size. (Not in the US? Scroll down for the best OLED TV deals in your region).
We’ve previously raved about the LG CX OLED, which has seen continual price cuts in the run-up to Black Friday, and could still eclipse the competition if it sees more discounts in the coming days. At the moment, though, the 65-inch CX is a bit pricier at $1,899 at Best Buy, with only a $600 discount to the A8’s $1,000.
The 2020 Sony TV range is full of great options for those looking to upgrade their current AV setup.
The A8 OLED, for one, is a new-for-2020 model that offers Sony’s high-end X1 Ultimate processing and gorgeous 4K OLED pictures at a surprisingly affordable price, making for an obvious choice over last year’s A9G OLED.
In our review, we wrote that “By combining Sony’s premium OLED picture performance with a powerful and direct sound system, the Sony A8H/A8 OLED TV manages to be a stunningly compelling TV option for serious home cinema fans.”
Today’s best Black Friday TV deal

LG CX OLED 65-inch TV:
$2,499 $1,899 at Best Buy
Go up a screen size with this 65-inch OLED TV deal, now discounted for an amazing $600 discount. It’s basically down to the original RRP of the 55-inch size, so it’s a very worthwhile saving.
OLED is the premium TV panel tech of the moment, and Black Friday 2020 has seen a number of lowest-ever prices on flagship OLED sets.
The 55-inch Vizio OLED featured above ($899) is the cheapest you can get a 55-inch OLED TV right now, but the A8 still wins out for the biggest saving around. Whether you’re after the cheapest OLED you can find, then, or the biggest saving from an original RRP, then, the deals above should have you sorted.
If you’re looking for more OLED TV deals, though, you’ll find all the lowest prices from around the web right here, with offers available in your region.
