CARIBBEANTALES BLACK INCUBATOR & STUDIO ACCESS PROJECT ANNOUNCES SECOND COHORT!
CaribbeanTales Inc. founded by Award-Winning Filmmaker, and Director Member of the Academy Frances-Anne Solomon has started the second cohort of their CaribbeanTales Black Incubator and Studio Access Project (CTBISAP) on May 19, 2022.
CTBISAP provides opportunities for Black Canadian filmmakers to access training and mentorship opportunities that will support their success as Black entrepreneurs in the Canadian media industry. The CaribbeanTales Team will lend their expertise to the participants in developing, producing and gaining market access to distribute their projects. On concluding the program, each participant will have produced a short proof of concept and gained deeper knowledge of their career choice(s) to work within the film and television industry.
“In this business, access is essential. The Caribbean Tales Black Incubator and Studio Access program is an integral step in getting access. Mentoring participants — not only in developing and producing, but on how to acquire distribution for their completed projects — is a crucial next step.”
Frances-Anne Solomon
CTBISAP is supported by a $648,000 Government of Canada investment through the Black Entrepreneurship Program (BEP) Ecosystem Fund delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
Three weeks ago, CaribbeanTales launched the Black Professional Micro-Credential Certificate Program. This unique program harnesses the expertise of experienced Black screen-based media industry professionals.
This Micro-Credential Program shines a much-needed light on those successful Black individuals who are at the top of their respective fields. Thus, it provides opportunities for Black creators to be mentored by people who look like them. With their mentorship, the participants will become more confident as they realize their desired roles and levels of experience within the film and television industry.
The specific courses provided on the Micro-Credential Program are both Above the Line and Below the Line positions in the industry, ranging from Cinematography to Composing for Film.
These courses will be released once a month starting in May. Potential participants are invited to register on the Micro-Credential website today!
