SAN JOSE, Calif. – Fourth-line wingers Adam Klapka and William Stromgren scored, Dustin Wolf made 26 saves, and the Calgary Flames beat the San Jose Sharks 2-1 on Monday night, The Associated Press reported.
Klapka opened the scoring with a wrist shot with 5:24 left in the first period, set up by centre Jonathan Castagna. Stromgren, who scored his first goal of the season, made it 2-0 at 9:14 of the third period, with assists to Klapka and Castagna.
Sam Dickinson cut the lead to one with a wrist shot with 8:03 left in the third, beating Wolf for San Jose’s only goal. Yaroslav Askarov stopped 20 shots for the Sharks.
The win moved Calgary to 7-8-0 on the season. San Jose fell to 7-8-1. The NHL.com game recap, headlined “Klapka has two points, Flames edge Sharks,” and the game’s box score report the same 2-1 final. One live blog listed a 1-0 score, but it appears to have been a stale in-game update, and the AP and NHL.com both show 2-1.
Klapka finished with a goal and an assist, and Castagna had two assists. Both of the Flames’ goals came from the fourth line’s wingers.
