Residents within two kilometres of Labatt Brewery in London, Ont., will hear a notification siren for about three minutes sometime between 11 a.m. and noon on Monday, Nov. 9, during an emergency exercise, the City of London said.
The London Fire Department will take part in the exercise, which the city said will happen in the vicinity of the brewery. Labatt is testing its emergency notification siren and improving its emergency plans, according to the city’s public service announcement issued Nov. 5.
Londoners may see a large number of emergency vehicles, support vehicles and first responders near the brewery between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The city said the public does not need to call 9-1-1 about activity at the site or related to the exercise during those hours. Anyone who needs emergency help should still call 9-1-1.
The city suggested people with pets that are sensitive to loud noises keep them indoors and take extra precautions during the three minutes the siren sounds.
The notice comes in a busy week for city notices. Crews are also finishing overnight detours on Fanshawe Park Road, and Richmond Street was closed Nov. 3 to 5 for sewer work. More local updates are collected in our London coverage.
The full notice is on the City of London’s newsroom.
