Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Cody Ceci will be re-evaluated in one month after suffering an ankle injury earlier this week. He will be placed on injured reserve.
Defenceman Timothy Liljegren has been recalled from AHL Toronto in his place.
Ceci injured his ankle in the third period of Wednesday’s loss to the New York Rangers and didn’t finish the game. On Thursday, GM Kyle Dubas told reporters the 26-year-old will be out “a while.”
Ceci has eight points and a plus-eight rating in 54 games this season, his first with the Maple Leafs.
Liljegren has appeared in one game for the Maple Leafs this season.
