Highbury Avenue over Highway 401 in London, Ont., is closed for about 24 hours starting Saturday morning, Nov. 7, and Colonel Talbot Road north of Southdale Road will be shut from Monday, Nov. 9, to Friday, Nov. 13, the City of London said.
Updated Nov. 7, 2026, 7:50 a.m. MT. This page lists the city’s current closure notices for the week and is updated as new ones arrive.
Saturday, Nov. 7: crews are pouring concrete for the new bridge on Highbury Avenue over Highway 401, so drivers cannot cross the highway on Highbury for roughly 24 hours. A signed detour for northbound and southbound traffic uses Pond Mills Road via Bradley Avenue and Wilton Grove Road. The closure is part of the Ministry of Transportation’s bridge replacement and interchange rehabilitation project. Separately, the city is rebuilding Highbury Avenue South and repairing the Commissioners Road and Bradley Avenue underpasses, so delays are possible around the interchange all week. The city asks drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time.
Monday, Nov. 9, to Friday, Nov. 13: Colonel Talbot Road is closed north of Southdale Road for private construction at a residential development. The signed detour runs along Byron Baseline Road, Boler Road and Southdale Road. The city said its Boler Road improvements are mostly complete and the road reopened earlier this week, so Boler is the intended alternate route, though some work there continues through the rest of the year.
Also on Monday, Nov. 9, Labatt Brewery will test its emergency notification siren. Details are in our story on the Labatt siren test in London.
The city’s notices are posted on the City of London newsroom, and construction projects across the city are mapped on its Renew London page. Media inquiries go to [email protected].
