Theft from Business
On March 14, 2021, police received a report from a business located in the 1500 block of 18th street north that two male suspects had entered into the store, filled a shopping cart with numerous items, and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. The suspects fled the area in a motor vehicle southbound on 18th street.
Theft of Bicycle, Possession of a Weapon
On March 14, 2021, police were on patrol in the 000 block of 7th street, when a member of the public flagged down the officer and reported that his bicycle had just been stolen from him. The suspect was located a short distance away and was also found to be in possession of an imitation handgun. The 20 year old male suspect was arrested and released to appear in court on April 26, 2021 on theft and weapons charges.
Breach of Release Order
On March 14, 2021, at 2037 hrs, a resident in the 600 block of 24th street reported that an intoxicated male was banging on the windows of their residence. Police attended the area and located the suspect in a grossly intoxicated state. The suspect was also found to be on conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol and not to possess any weapons. The suspect was found to be in possession of a knife contrary to his conditions. The 31 year old male was released on an appearance notice to appear before the courts on June 8, 2021 on two counts of breach of release order when he was sober.
Other arrests
Police made two other arrests on individuals who were located in highly intoxicated states and were unable to care for themselves. With no responsible, sober persons to care for these people, they were lodged at the Brandon Police Service Detention Unit until sober at which time they were released.
