Arrest following indecent act
A Guelph male was arrested Monday in connection with an indecent act investigation.
On January 7, approximately 12:30 a.m., an 18-year-old female was walking in the area of Westwood Road and Silvercreek Parkway North when she was approached by a black SUV. The driver said something to get her attention, and when the female looked she noted the male had his pants down and was touching himself.
The Guelph Police Service Special Victims Unit took over the investigation and on Monday made an arrest. A 32-year-old Guelph male is charged with committing an indecent act. He will appear in a Guelph court March 8, 2022.
Fifth person charged in downtown bust
A fifth person has been arrested in connection with the seizure last month of weapons and drugs from a downtown apartment.
On January 19, members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft (BEAT) and Tactical units executed warrants at a downtown apartment building. A restricted firearm, several other weapons and approximately $6,000 worth of controlled substances were seized.
Three people were arrested at the scene and a fourth was arrested a week later. On Monday officers were conducting a separate investigation in the downtown area and spotted a female wanted in connection with the seizure.
A 23-year-old Guelph female is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing a prohibited weapon, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm and possessing a firearm with an altered serial number. She will appear in a Guelph bail court Tuesday.
Male faces several charges
A Guelph male faces several charges following reports of someone going through cars early Tuesday.
Approximately 4:40 a.m., a resident in the area of Alma Street and Plymouth Court called to report someone going through his neighbour’s car. Officers arrived a short time later and observed a male lying on the ground in an attempt to conceal himself.
As officers approached the male, they could see credit cards and identity documents sticking out of his coat pocket. The male identified himself and it was discovered he is bound by an undertaking with a condition not to possess cards or identity documents unless lawfully issued in his name.
A search of the male revealed several identity documents and bank cards in other people’s names, as well as a flashlight and bolt cutters.
A 37-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing stolen property, possessing break-in instruments, trespassing by night and failing to comply with an undertaking. He will appear in a Guelph court March 18, 2022.
