Female arrested after stranger stabbed
A Guelph female faces several charges after a stranger was stabbed in the back while walking his dogs downtown early Sunday.
Approximately 8:20 a.m. emergency services were called to Carden Street near Wyndham Street North. An adult male reported he was walking his dogs when he was confronted by a female who began yelling at him. When the male turned his back he was stabbed once in the right shoulder blade area. The female fled on foot and was observed by a witness running with a knife in her hand. She was located and arrested within 15 minutes.
The victim was transported to a Hamilton trauma centre for treatment.
A 31-year-old Guelph female is charged with assault causing bodily harm, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, breaching probation and disobeying a court order by possessing a weapon. She was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
Road rage leads to collision, charges
Two Guelph males were taken off the road Friday evening after a case of road rage led to a minor collision.
The pair were driving in the area of Woolwich Street and Woodlawn Road West approximately 6:20 p.m. when one took exception to the other’s driving. One of the drivers chased the other through heavy traffic and into a factory parking lot before re-entering the road. One driver then entered a business laneway and braked abruptly, causing the other driver to rear-end him. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
Two Guelph males, aged 53 and 25, were charged with stunt driving. Their driver’s licences were suspended for 30 days and their vehicles were impounded for 14 days.

Male arrested for theft of food delivery vehicle
A Guelph male was arrested Monday nearly a week after a food delivery driver had his vehicle stolen while picking up an order.
The victim left his car running outside a Woodlawn Road East restaurant just after 6 p.m. October 4. A male and female were observed getting into the car and driving away. The victim’s credit cards were later used at a number of locations in Waterloo Region.
On Monday, the Guelph Police Service was notified the vehicle had been stopped by police in another jurisdiction. The driver was arrested and returned to Guelph.
A 36-year-old Guelph male is charged with theft of motor vehicle, possessing stolen property over $5,000, using a stolen credit card, four counts of driving while prohibited and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing to identify the male’s accomplice.
Males sought after fire set
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after three teens were seen fleeing a deliberately-set fire at an east-end park Sunday evening.
Just after 6:30 p.m. emergency services were called for a brush fire at Eastview Community Park. The fire was spreading quickly and was close to catching trees on fire before being extinguished by the Guelph Fire Department.
A witness reported he saw three males leaving the area of the fire and fleeing in a vehicle. The three were described as teenaged males, average height, with two wearing all black and the third wearing a red and black jacket. They were observed leaving in a grey four-door sedan, believed to be a Honda or Toyota.
