No penalty was called on Habs captain for slash to the back of Lightning star’s leg in third period of 5-1 loss to Tampa Bay in Cup final.

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced on Tuesday that Canadiens captain Shea Weber has been fined $5,000 for a slash on the Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov during Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final Monday night in Tampa.
The Lightning won the game 5-1 with Game 2 scheduled for Wednesday in Tampa (8 p.m., CBC, SN, TVA Sports, TSN 690 Radio, 98.5 FM).
The $5,000 fine is the maximum allowable under the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement. No penalty was called on Weber for the slash to the back of Kucherov’s left leg with 3:28 left in the third period and the Lightning on a power play while leading 4-1.
