A new school-based case of COVID-19 has been identified at Ian Forsyth Elementary School in Dartmouth.
The school will be closed until Thursday, Dec. 10.
“A deep cleaning will take place and students will learn from home during the closure,” says a news release. “Students and staff will receive an update Wednesday.”
As with other positive COVID-19 cases, Public Health will contact anyone who might’ve been in close contact with this case regarding next steps. Everyone who is a close contact will be notified, tested and must self-isolate for 14 days. This is a part of the province’s steps to evaluate contact tracing.
To date, this is the ninth individual school-based case of COVID-19.
At a Friday briefing on COVID-19, Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer Dr. Robert Strang said he is comfortable that the province’s schools are safe.
