The Edmonton Oilers will try to stretch their win streak to five games Tuesday night when they visit the Los Angeles Kings, the first stop in a week that gives all seven Canadian NHL teams at least two games.
Edmonton (4-0-1) beat the San Jose Sharks 3-1 on Saturday, a game NHL.com described as the team’s best start to a season since 2021-22. Tristan Jarry made 19 saves, and Mattias Ekholm, Alex Formenton and Vasily Podkolzin scored. Connor McDavid leads the league with 13 points through five games, NHL.com reported, and defenceman Evan Bouchard has 12.
After Los Angeles, the Oilers return to Rogers Place on Thursday, Oct. 15, to host the Utah Mammoth, then play in Utah on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The other Canadian clubs are not in the same position. The Calgary Flames are winless in five games (0-5-0), according to Hockey Reference, and visit the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday and the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday before hosting the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday, Oct. 18. The Vancouver Canucks (2-4-0) are on an Eastern road swing, with games Tuesday at the New York Islanders, Thursday at the Florida Panthers and Saturday at the Tampa Bay Lightning. Vancouver lost 7-2 to Carolina on Oct. 8.
The Winnipeg Jets (3-1-1) host the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday and host Carolina on Saturday.
In Eastern Canada, the Ottawa Senators (4-1-0) have a home-heavy stretch, hosting the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday and the Islanders on Thursday before visiting the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. The Toronto Maple Leafs (3-2-1) play at Utah on Tuesday, then host the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday and the Islanders on Saturday. The Montreal Canadiens (2-2-1) host Buffalo on Tuesday, visit the Washington Capitals on Wednesday and host the Sabres again on Saturday.
Records are through Saturday’s games. Schedules are as listed by Hockey Reference and may change. Edmonton’s results and next game are from NHL.com.
