Jones was signed by the Nuggets to a two-way contract after going undrafted in 2024 and has been a developmental success story for the organization, blossoming into a rotation player.
The 25-year-old averaged 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and shot 39.6 per cent from three over 64 games last season, 37 of them starts.
Jones’ contract was converted from a two-way to a standard NBA deal in February, and he became a restricted free agent in the off-season.
After losing depth players Jonas Valančiūnas and Tim Hardaway Jr. during the off-season, the Nuggets have now secured an important, home-grown role player.
By matching Jones’ sheet, the Nuggets also now face a $32 million increase on their luxury tax bill ($36M to $68M) and will be the only NBA team currently in the second apron, Charania added.
