Style Q&A: Creator of Canadian brand Lithe Lashes talks falsies – The Province

Brand offers three tiers of false lashes: Minimal, Classic and Full Volume.

Finding the perfect pair of false eyelashes can be tricky.

First, there’s sorting through all the different types — strip, single, demi — then there’s deciding on the volume of the lashes. Finally, there’s the finicky question of fit. While you can trim strip lashes to better suit your unique eye shape, trying to wrangle a pair of lashes that’s too big for your lids is basically an impossible task better left to the pros.

Toronto-based brand Lithe Lashes is aiming to ease the false-lash finding struggle by offering three tiers of lashes — Minimal, Classic and Full Volume — as well as a variety of accoutrements for easy application, lash curling, etc.

We caught up with Linda Secondi, the brand’s founder and creative director, to learn more.


Q. For those who aren’t familiar, what is Lithe Lashes?

A. Lithe Lashes is a new brand of Everyday Lashes, a collection of custom-designed strip lashes that are natural-looking, comfortable to wear, cruelty-free, vegan, and environmentally conscious.

Q. What makes it unique?

A. In many lash collections, the emphasis is placed on creating perfect, consistent and symmetrical lashes, but the way natural lashes grow is quite the opposite — and Lithe drew inspiration from this, by creating a collection of Everyday Lashes inspired by our natural lashes. At Lithe, we also value the importance of environmental sustainability, thus each pair of lashes is packaged in Lithe’s fully recyclable packaging made from FSC-certified paper and uniquely designed around stowing trays — created to perfectly preserve both the curl of both the band and lash hairs themselves.

Q. Who is your target customer? 

A. Our modern woman/man isn’t defined by age and can’t easily be categorized. He/She has an eye for style and an interest in beauty, but it needs to fit with their busy lifestyle without adding any extra fuss or feeling too trendy. They’re looking for products that enhance their natural beauty and work with their simplified routine, all while aligning with their cruelty-free, conscious lifestyle.

Q. Where are the lashes designed/made?

A. While manufactured overseas, all our lash designs are developed here in Canada.

Q. Applying false lashes can be tricky. Any tips to get it right?

A. The best trick in the book when applying brand new lashes: Try bending your lashes back and forth in a U shape, several times. This creates more flexibility and curve in your lash band, allowing them to form to the shape of your eyes a little easier.

Q. What is the price range of Lithe Lashes?

A. Our core collection currently retails for $30.

Q. And where can people check them out?

A. We are currently looking to partner with other environmentally conscious ecommerce stores, currently, we are exclusive only on our website, lithelashes.com.

Q. Lastly, what’s next?

A. Lithe is excited to announce the launch of Lash Bond, a latex-free and waterproof adhesive designed to dry clear and odourless. In addition, Lithe is also launching a line of ergonomically designed pro eyelash tools: Lithe Lash Curler, Lithe Mini Lash Curler, and, the highly anticipated, Lithe Lash Applicator. All available in a minimal, sleek matte black finish.

Apple's FineWoven cases rumored to get one final release – AppleInsider

Apple’s range of FineWoven cases



Apple has probably stopped production of its poorly-received FineWoven cases for the iPhone, but a new report from the same herald of its death says there is one last set of seasonal colorways coming.

Now according to leaker Kosutami, who first reported the cancellation, there could still be one more push for the FineWoven cases.

Pressed on the rumor, Kosutami emphasizes later in the same thread that if this is correct, it will be for only one more season. It’s now almost eight months since the launch of the iPhone 15 range, so it’s unlikely that there is to be a new mid-cycle color of the iPhone, but perhaps there can yet be new colors for the FineWoven cases.

Consequently, this rumor can at best be said to be possible, especially if Apple had already committed resources to the new colors. However, since FineWoven has proven to be startlingly poor at stain resistance or even just durability, it’s more believable that it is gone for good than it is that FineWoven will get a last hoorah.

Meta Expands VR Operating System to Third-Party Hardware Makers – MacRumors

Facebook parent company Meta today announced the upcoming expansion of Meta Horizon OS, a virtual and augmented reality operating system that will be available to third-party hardware manufacturers that want to design their own headsets.


Right now, Meta sells the Quest line of headsets, but the company wants to provide the software for third-party VR and AR products in the future, much like Microsoft offers Windows for all manner of third-party PCs.

Meta Horizon OS is the mixed reality operating system that Meta created for its own Quest headsets, and it has support for eye, face, hand, and body tracking along with passthrough, spatial anchors, scene understanding, and other features. There is a “social layer” that will allow the identities, avatars, and friends of users to move between virtual spaces on different devices.

According to Meta, multiple companies are working on devices that will use Meta Horizon OS. ASUS ROG is developing a performance gaming headset and Lenovo is working on mixed reality devices for productivity, learning, and entertainment. Meta says that it is also creating a limited edition version of Meta Quest in partnership with Xbox.

With the expansion of Meta Horizon OS to third-party hardware manufacturers, Meta is making it easier for any developer to ship VR software on the platform by removing barriers between the Horizon Store and App Lab.

By creating an operating system that can be used by other hardware manufacturers, Meta is inserting itself into the growing AR/VR ecosystem and creating opportunities for it to outpace Apple in mixed reality development. Apple launched the Vision Pro headset earlier this year, but software is lacking given the high price and limited distribution of the device.

According to a report from earlier today, interest in the Vision Pro is already waning at Apple’s retail locations with fewer people requesting demos.
