Two 22-year-old men have been charged in connection with two shootings in Surrey, B.C., in October 2025, including one that injured a woman at her home, the BC Provincial Extortion Task Force said Friday.
The B.C. Prosecution Service approved charges against Pardeep Singh and Saveer Khan, the RCMP said in a news release. Each man faces one count of reckless discharge of a firearm for each of the two shootings. Both remain in custody. The charges have not been proven in court.
The first shooting happened on Oct. 12, 2025, when police were called to a report of shots fired at a home in the 13000 block of 103A Avenue. A woman was injured, the RCMP said.
Four days later, on Oct. 16, 2025, shots were fired at a café in the 8400 block of 120 Street. The business was closed at the time, but two employees were inside. Neither was hurt.
The extortion task force took over both investigations after investigators found possible links between them, police said. The two men were arrested in Surrey on Nov. 1, 2026, by the task force working with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. (CFSEU-BC) and the Surrey Police Service.
“These charges are the result of extensive investigative work conducted over the past year, including multiple judicial authorizations, search warrants, and detailed analysis of evidence,” said Chief Supt. Duncan Pound, the Lower Mainland District operations officer. He said the charges “should serve as another clear message to those involved in extortion related violence that law enforcement is working collaboratively to ensure public safety.”
The RCMP release ties the case to the task force’s work on extortion-related violence but does not say whether either shooting involved an extortion demand.
The extortion task force
B.C. set up the Provincial Extortion Task Force in September 2025 to coordinate investigations into extortion-related offences across the province. It is led by the RCMP and includes the Abbotsford, Delta, Metro Vancouver Transit and Surrey police, CFSEU-BC and the Canada Border Services Agency.
The task force says it has now laid 28 charges against 14 people.
