Wet leaves and standing water can make roads slick, and gusts of this strength can bring down branches. Drivers can check conditions on DriveBC before heading out, and BC Hydro customers can check or report outages on the BC Hydro outage map. Anyone who sees a downed power line should stay well back and call 911.
The system comes a day after stronger winds were forecast elsewhere on the coast, including gusts to 90 km/h around Howe Sound and Bowen Island and gusts to 110 km/h on north Vancouver Island. Our Canada winter forecast for 2026-27 has the outlook for B.C. and every other region.
