Watch WWDC 2020 live: See Apple's new iOS, Mac and other big reveals – CNET

Published

on

Today Apple will hold its opening keynote for WWDC 2020, its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. The company is expected to discuss iOS 14 for the iPhone and iPad, as well as new WatchOS and MacOS software to power its Apple Watch, MacBooks, iMacs and Mac Pros, too. But the biggest change may not be about the look of Apple’s Macs or a new feature for the iPhone. Apple is expected to announce that the chips powering its Mac computers will change, shifting from chips made by Intel to new Arm-based ones similar to those built for the iPhone.

The move has been rumored for years, most recently in a report by Bloomberg citing anonymous sources familiar with the company’s plans. Making such a change could allow Apple to make thinner laptops with better battery life and potentially quieter cooling fans. But the transition will likely take a year or more, meaning you’re in for a wait for new computers with those chips inside.

WWDC 2020 start time

Apple’s WWDC 2020 keynote, which will be headed by CEO Tim Cook, takes place Monday, June 22, at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. GMT / June 23 at 3 a.m. AEST.

How to watch Apple’s WWDC keynote livestream

CNET will be hosting a livestream discussion of Apple’s event as it’s happening, and we’ll have a live blog with up-to-the-minute analysis during the event. Watch live on CNET in the video at the top of this article.

Apple will host a livestream of the event on its Apple Events page too. If you’re an Apple TV owner, you can also watch the livestream via the Apple Events app — there are also archives of older events, if you’re feeling nostalgic.

What to expect from WWDC 2020

Almost certainly we’ll get updates to iOS, MacOS and WatchOS. TVOS for the Apple TV may also get an update. Rumors point to a possible update for the iMac, in addition to Apple’s announcement of its plans to change the chips inside its computers.

Apple’s WWDC invitation mascots this year are a group of coders, whose faces mimic the company’s memoji animation technology.

Apple

While Apple’s WWDC 2020 keynote may include the biggest changes for the Mac computer in years, it’ll also be the first time Apple will be holding a keynote amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has infected nearly 9 million people and killed more than 468,000 around the globe.

In response to the crisis, Apple and other tech giants like Facebook and Google canceled their in-person conferences around Silicon Valley. Apple and Microsoft instead chose to hold virtual conferences, livestreaming presentations to developers around the world.

CNET’s global team will be covering Apple’s event, as well as other conferences that have shifted online. Our coverage will include the real-time updates, commentary and analysis you can only get here.

League of Legends adding a new set of anime-inspired skins, including sexy Thresh – Polygon

Published

on

League of Legends is adding more anime-inspired skins to the game. The Spirit Blossom skin line features Teemo, Thresh, Vayne, Yasuo, and the newly announced champion, Lillia.

The line was originally teased at a panel at Anime Expo Lite and now has been fully revealed.

The most notable thing about this batch of skins is that Thresh has been turned human. And not just human, he’s a hot anime human. Nobody asked for sexy Thresh but Riot Games delivered him to us anyway.

Judging from the splash art alone, we can infer that Yasuo is the hero of this skin line, as he’s sporting obviously brighter colors. Thresh, Vayne, and Lillia are all immersed in darkness, possibly serving as villains. Teemo seems like a wandering nomad, but given that he’s Teemo, it could really swing either way.

These skins should be added to the Public Beta Environment for testing soon with the rest of the patch 10.14 content. Artwork for each of the new skins can be found below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra leaks with first real-world images – MobileSyrup

Published

on

We’ve seen renders, CAD mock-ups and several case leaks, but this is the first time Samsung’s often-rumoured Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has leaked with real-world images courtesy of YouTuber ‘Jimmy is Promo.’

Though it’s impossible to verify the accuracy of the photograph and Jimmy is Promo’s subsequent tweets regarding the device, the images look very similar to previous leaks we’ve seen over the last few weeks related to the Note 20.

The real-world photos give us a glimpse of the Note 20 Ultra’s triple-rear camera bump that looks very similar to the S20 Ultra’s. There appears also to be a 3D time-of-flight sensor on the back of the smartphone as well. Finally, there’s another photo of the front of the smartphone showing off its centred hole-punch front-facing camera at the top of the display.

Another thing worth noting from the images is the location of the volume rocker and power button on the right side of the device, just like the S20. With the Note 10, these buttons were located on the left side of the display.

Jimmy is Promo goes on to say the handset’s S Pen and bottom speaker are shifting to the left of the smartphone’s charging port.

Regarding specs, the Note 20 is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor — a processor that hasn’t been released yet — an S Pen with additional features, new camera functionality that includes 100x zoom, and a QHD+ 120Hz screen.

Though these images seem to be of the Note 20 Ultra, there are also rumours circulating that Samsung plans to release the smartphone in two sizes, including a standard 6.42 inch Note 20 and a larger 6.97-inch Note 20 Ultra.
