
Halifax and the Halifax Mooseheads will be well-represented at this year’s World Junior Hockey Championships in Sweden.
Mathis Rousseau, Jake Furlong, and Jordan Dumais will wear Team Canada’s red and white sweaters at the annual tournament that pits the world’s best junior hockey players against one another. Markus Vidicek, who was also invited to the team’s selection camp was amongst the final cuts to the roster and is expected to return to Halifax in time to take part in the Herd’s last games before the Christmas break.
Furlong, Rousseau and Dumais will now travel with Team Canada to Malmo, Sweden, to begin their pre-tournament schedule against Denmark on December 19th before facing the host Swedish side on December 22nd and then the United States on December 23rd.
The tournament begins in Gothenburg on Boxing Day when Canada begins its quest for gold against Finland. The Canadians then play Latvia on December 27th, Sweden on December 29th and wrap up the round-robin portion of the tournament on New Year’s Eve against Germany. The gold medal game is scheduled for January 5th.
