
The Region of Waterloo has provided more details on the number of charges for those not following the rules, put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
So far, three businesses and two individuals have been fined.
Specific names were not provided, but the businesses are a nail salon, vape shop, and tattoo parlour.
Earlier this month, a Cambridge man was charged for allegedly not following social distancing rules.
The first charge was laid by Kitchener bylaw officers, in regard to a basketball game on an outdoor court.
Waterloo’s Region CAO told a news conference on Friday morning, between March 22 and April 16, bylaw and police made almost 400 site visits – in 295 they did not need to take any action.
Another 400 plus calls were able to be sorted out over the phone.
The region is now planning to update enforcement numbers weekly.
