A former Toronto Blue Jay is headed to Kansas City.
The Houston Astros have traded reliever Nate Pearson to the Royals, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reported on Wednesday.
Pearson was designated for assignment by the Astros on Sunday. He appeared in 16 games with them this season, posting a 3.60 ERA with 16 strikeouts and 12 walks over 20 innings.
The 29-year-old previously spent a season-and-a-half with the Chicago Cubs after a mid-season trade from Toronto in 2024, pitching in 30 games for the NL Central club.
Pearson was the No. 1 pitching prospect in baseball in 2021.
