The battle to secure one of the most intriguing young soccer talents looks to be at its end.
Real Madrid has signed breakout forward Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig for a fee of over 100 million Euros (CAD$160 million), soccer insider Fabrizio Romano reported Sunday.
The move comes after Diomande had agreed to personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, but the reigning back-to-back European champs were unwilling to meet Leipzig’s price point. As a consequence, PSG has formally withdrawn its interest and bids for Diomande.
According to Romano, the Ivorian winger will travel to Madrid later this week to complete medical tests and put pen to paper on a final contract, reportedly keeping him in the Spanish capital until June 2031.
Diomande, 19, enjoyed a breakout season in his lone year at Leipzig, tallying 12 goals and nine assists in 33 Bundesliga games. He added one goal for the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations and one assist in four games at the World Cup.
A native of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Diomande has seen a meteoric rise through the soccer world after playing at DME Academy, a private sports academy in Daytona Beach, Fla., as recently as 2024.
He initially joined CD Leganes in Spain in January 2025, then was purchased by Leipzig for 1.5 million Euros (CAD$2.4 million) only six months later ahead of the 2025-26 season.
